So what can you expect from a mobile home in France… check out this clip of a static caravan in Brittany
The words static caravan or mobile home conjour up a whole lot of images for people, some good, some bad, some well informed, some definitely not. We regularly receive lots of questions about what mobile home and caravan accommodation is actually like on a holiday park including: is there really enough room for a big family, what are the cooking facilities like, is there a fridge, are their proper beds, is there electricity, English/French plugs, what’s the bathroom like, are there showers… and the list goes on.
Sometimes pictures speak a thousand words so we have taken some video of our 2011 mobile home which was at Ty Nadan holiday park in south Brittany. This is a Eurocamp 3 bedroom static caravan and is fairly typical of the mobile homes we have stayed in across France over the last decade.
As you can see this particularly caravan pitch included decking which is well worth it as it extends your living area considerably. On the deck you will also find table, 4 chairs and sun umbrella, 2 loungers, 2 comfortbale seats and a barbecue. Please ignore the black rubbish bag on the decking (video was taken as we were tidying up to leave!).
Inside you will see that it has a comfortable lounge seating area, the sofa can also be pulled out in to a double bed. The fitted fan is particularly useful during the warmer weather although there are plenty of windows to open for ventilation. The lounge also has a gas fire which is particularly useful at the ends of the seasons when the nights are cooler. The caravan also has a CD/Radio player.
The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a gas hob and oven, fridge, freezer, microwave and all the cutlery, plates, mugs and glasses you could need.
There are 3 bedrooms in this model ranging from the big double bedroom, a reasonable twin room and a smaller room with bunk beds. All are comfortable for a family and with the sofa bed in the lounger area you can gain some extra space at night if required.
The bathrooms are well laid out to give you a good shower – in some models the base is so deep that you can use as a bath for a small child! There is also a sink and a toilet.
Throughout the caravan there are plenty of cupboards for putting things away.
