Ryanair offering families value for money?
According to a Family Brands Survey, conducted by ad agency Isobel, Ryanair was named the worst ‘family’ brand. The whole list was dominated by airlines which says a lot of the current performance levels experienced throughout the sector.
The low cost carrier, Ryanair was described by many as doing little to look after family values and certainly did not listen to its customers. A common view is that Ryanair put profit caring about their travellers. Undoubtedly what has fuelled much of this backlash against the airline is their attitude towards charging with a £40 booking fee for a family of four being just one example.
Ryanair have defended themselves against the criticism by highlighting that they guarantee the lowest fares which allows more families to travel than ever before.
The truth probably lies somewhere between the two arguments. Ryanair do offer cheap prices – although you need to account for the ‘hidden’ charges – but if you have paid the lowest price then you can not have expectations of first class comfort. However, Ryanair does have a habit of shooting itself in the foot – paying to go the toilet in-flight being a perfect example!
