Credit crunch could benefit UK tourism

With the credit crunch gradually taking its toll on the UK consumers confidence and security it will come as no surprise that people are thinking long and hard before committing themselves to a 2009  summer holiday.

However, the Chief Executive  of UK operator Hoseasons – as he commented recently – is not alone in hoping that this may actually stimulate the UK holiday market as more consumers choose to holiday in the UK.  It is predicted that the UK holiday market will remain stable in 2009, with people cutting back on their foreign holiday plans.  In 2010 their is an anticipated drop of 10% in foreign travel.

At the end of the day, regardless of the economy, people still want to go on holiday.  So it could be good news for the UK travel trade, particularly for those offering short breaks and late/last minute offers.

UK Hoseasons holidays can be found on Find Holiday Parks (UK holiday parks, lodges and caravans), The Self Catering Guide (Cottages and Self Catering Accommodation) and Boat Holidays UK. Other UK based holiday accommodation can be found on The Bed and Breakfast Guide (B&B) and The Quality Hotel Guide.
