Airlines being kept going by family visits
The Civil Aviation Authority has reported that nearly a quarter of International traffic – that’s almost 40 million passengers – are travelling to see friends and family. This is a big rise since 2001 and highlights the increasing importance of friends and family travellers to the airline industry and travel industry as a whole.
Will the impact of the credit crunch increase mean that the proportion of friends and family travellers increasing in importance as other types of travellers such as holidaymakers cut back? And is this really just a trend in the airline industry or is it being seen across the travel industry as a whole?
